hi today we're going to talk about chapter 4 and and chapter 4 is on becoming a world power the time period is 1872 to 1912 and this is going to start with this sort of imperialist idea came out of Europe countries we're looking for wealth and so if we go over and take over new territories and we can expand our country and and that I do imperialism is a slightly different idea in that we would go take over countries that warrant part of us and perhaps our far way from us and we would control it and extract resources out of that country and set up sort of a government a governmental system would educate the people some of the best and worst excesses of Africa colonize by by European powers and and they're still feeling the effects on that continent today the Middle East who was colonized in large part by the British and a lot of the chaos that happened is being his directly due to this imperialism that started I'm doing this time. The United States we looked around and there is no large they're South America bug but we did not feel like we were a strong enough power to begin to colonize South what emphasized many of the Europeans that already taken and establish colonies Cuba Cuba wanted its independence and so we decided to help them we use the pretext of an American ship blowing up in Manila Bay to two sending troops and that's Teddy Roosevelt where he made his his Fame  following the Spanish begin another series of revolutions over there between the Prime Minister there who overthrew the queen and and some American sugar companies so there is a lot happening during this period of time as America looks to become little player on the world  so I hope you enjoy this job
