okay today we're going to Clover chapter 2 in your book it starts off with the new Republic right after we wrote our Constitution and it will end in the in construction. What is ended in 1877 introduced The Bill of Rights and understand that that do United States adopted this constitution a lot of the colonies now States said I'm not signing that thing unless you list the rights haha citizens what what rights they have that the federal government can take away from them they they created town and those are called The Bill of Rights and so you'll go over that you'll go over how the country started develop technology the beginning up some railroads the slavery question should slavery spread further south for the West there was the chances question is more States coming to Union there was always a balance that that you would have admitted stain and invaded free state California become a state in 1849 the Gold Rush brought so many people in the state 1850 California Woods ready and so but they didn't have a slave state to bring to bring in with California so the question was if California comes in as a free state that's going to pause problems with the balance in Congress that were free in 15 slave and so that was going to cause trouble and so the 1850s are essentially trying to manage the slavery issue what do you do with slaves run away the South wanted a Fugitive Slave Act in a where they could go over and just grab his game slaves or people they thought was asked and bring him back to their masters you had Dred Scott Decision it said that that is slave was as was a slave no matter free states or not  and then you have the operator of the of the Civil War I think that that the things that's really important to know about the Civil War used on the slavery question the South I think most people today think the stop the South want to keep slaves and indeed the Civil War that was the dominant issue but  eat when remember is that most of the people in the South did not own slaves and those who did own maybe one there were very few people who almost there was a comment during the war that it was a rich man's war and a poor man's fight but but Civil War was an extraordinary. And there's a lot of a lot of documentaries can you can ask your teacher in the complaint you to that and then fall in the Civil War construction. It was a 12-year essential a military occupation of the south of the federal troops were there to enforce civil rights  and then the question is is how long are they be there when are they going to be removed men in 1877 there was a presidential election where there were disputed votes in Florida do you think election got thrown into the House of Representatives we should have had a president named Samuel Tilden he had the most electoral votes win the election got thrown into the house Representatives but he didn't win and the reason was because the president who who who who was the Furby Hayes the segregation idea began to take hold of the South and that would permit the south for the next $89
