Step 1: LEARN about Independent Study and program expectations for students and families.

Step 2: INFORM Los Angeles Unified about your interest to participate in City of Angels by:

For students with an IEP, please contact your current school to schedule an IEP team meeting
Step 3: We know you are excited to CONNECT with the City of Angels.


Students in City of Angels will have a first week of school experience. This includes a teacher consultation the first week of school, which is time for you to review documents, discuss the registration process and to address your questions with the Teacher.
Students will have assignments and will have daily synchronous instruction and daily live interaction as follows:
Elementary - 3 hours daily live instruction with independent work when not learning with teacher
Secondary - Three 70 minute periods with independent work when not learning with teacher
Step 4: After meeting with your child’s teacher, write down the contact information for your teacher, including email, and stay ENGAGED, informed and communicate your needs and experiences.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program

The Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) is a federally-funded program administered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to help families struggling to afford broadband internet service. Starting May 12, families can apply for a discount of up to $50 per month towards broadband service as well as up to $100 toward a computing device from participating providers.

To date, the FCC has established that qualifying households could be offered a discount of up to $50 on monthly connectivity expenses if they are signed up with a participating internet service provider (ISP).

Contact your preferred participating broadband provider directly to learn about their application process.
Go to GetEmergencyBroadband.org to apply online and to find participating providers near you.
Call 833-511-0311 for a mail-in application, and return it along with proof of eligibility to: Emergency Broadband Support Center, P.O. Box 7081, London, KY 40742.
